Experimentation with form, abstraction, and style. This is how I feel sometimes. Rushing to get things done, to juggle everything, making sure none of the plates drop, getting through trapdoors before they snap shut and mangle me…

My submission to TFL poster competition titled ‘London Stories’. This was the day I needed help taking my son down a set of stairs at Bow Road tube station, in his pram. I was going to ask the husband of a family who passed by me, but it was the wife who did so. She handed their youngest baby to her husband, who was already handling their two older ones, and she didn’t hesitate, picking up the other side of the pram and walked down briskly with me. I will never forget what a special gesture that was. London can be a cold, unfeeling city, but here and there you still find a gem of kindness, when you least expect.
I prefer the term ‘parenthood’ than ‘motherhood’, as it’s less riddled with baggage and more inclusive, but bottom line is, I am now a mother. To celebrate, I created this series of personal work, which I hope to keep making over time.

We were asked to concentrate on certain primary locations within the setting of the show, which is in one of the girls' grandmother's garden. The locations are: tea party and theatre stage, their tree house, and the rabbit hutch. We were also asked to mockup the look and feel of the girls in various treatment and finish.

Collaborating with Simon Robson from Engine, this project required me to design and illustrate an array of Australian native plants and animals to populate the stylised environment that he has in mind. Simon, myself and Max (Head of 3D at Engine) had numerous conversations about how these animals would move, what they would be made of, and so on. Our goal was to create a host of creatures that are endearing without being overly cute as well as handcrafted without feeling stiff or unnatural.

HBF is the largest health insurance provider in Western Australia. Myself and Mungo (SELF) were approached by ZAC Creative to collaborate on a series of retail ads, whose primary function is to deliver dry, factual information on dollars, cents, and benefits in the most engaging way possible, leading up to the standard ‘call to action’. Our strategy was to use a character to take the viewers through the visual journey, from one benefit to the next. For the first spot in this series, HBF Essentials, we introduced ‘Harry’. He is charming, curious, yet laidback, and loveable. Keep scrolling for some full credit list and behind-the-scenes work, including some ideas for a paper-diorama HBF world, that never got made…
